Former combat pilot, former police officer and world-renowned keynote speaker, Vernice FlyGirl Armour has been featured on OPRAH, CNN, MSNBC, FOX and others and presented to hundreds of organizations including Walmart, Bank of America, Shell, T-Mobile.

Leveraging her Get Gutsy mindset, Vernice propelled herself from beat cop to combat pilot in a record-breaking three years and became America’s First African American Female Combat Pilot.
A Tennessee native and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, FlyGirl holds two honorary doctorates, was a Diversity Liaison Officer to the Pentagon for Headquarters Marine Corps and is a member of the COMCAST/NBCUniversal Joint Diversity Council. She has received numerous awards as a pioneering pilot, to include her commanding role in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). She was the Marine Corps’ first African American Female pilot, first African American woman on the Nashville Police Department’s motorcycle squad, a Camp Pendleton Female Athlete of the Year, two-time titleholder in their Strongest Warrior Competition, and a running back for the women’s professional football team, the San Diego ‘Sunfire.’
She is working on her next book, The Gutsy Move, and her signature book, Zero to BreakthroughTM was published by Penguin in 2011.
- Jim Nussle President and CEO, CUNA
Jim Nussle is the President and CEO of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). Nussle has led CUNA, the largest and most influential national financial services trade association advocating on behalf of America's credit unions, since 2014. Nussle served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991-2007 as a Representative from the State of Iowa. From 2001-2006, he served as chairman of the House Budget Committee. In 2007, President George W. Bush nominated him as the 36th director of Office of Management and Budget... Nussle serves as a director on the boards of Thrivent Mutual Funds and PRA Group Inc. In addition, he volunteers his time on the national board of The National Down Syndrome Society. Nussle and his wife, Karen live in Virginia and have two adult children.
- Jim Block EVP/COO, BCU
Jim Block is EVP/COO at BCU. Jim began his career with BCU in 1995. Jim is responsible for BCU’s lending and deposit product lines, including Consumer lending, Real Estate lending, Commercial lending, the Deposit teams, which include Operations, ATM and Debit Card functions, and our Information Services areas. Prior to this role, Jim held positions of increasing responsibility within the lending organization. Jim also has a ten-year technology background and for several years had responsibility for BCU’s Project Management Office.
- Mike Schenk Chief Advocacy Officer for Policy Analysis and Chief Economist, CUNA
Mike Schenk has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. In 1992 he joined the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) – the largest and most influential national trade association advocating for America's credit unions. There are over 5,000 credit unions nationwide, with 120 million memberships and over $1.6 trillion in assets
Mike is Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer for Policy Analysis and Chief Economist for CUNA and conducts economic research and supports CUNA’s public relations and advocacy efforts. His analyses regularly appear in trade publications such as Credit Union Magazine. He also is a frequent contributor to the financial media.
Schenk serves on the board of the Filene Research Institute, an independent, non-profit consumer and cooperative finance think tank.
He also serves on the board of Summit Credit Union in Madison, Wisconsin – a $4.2 billion financial cooperative with over 200,000 members. He serves as Board Chair and has Chaired the credit union’s Asset-Liability Management and Risk Management/Internal Audit Committees.
